Symantec's latest Internet Security Threat Report warns of an increase in attacks on home PC users, as well as a jump in malicious users compromising systems to steal information. Home users are by far the most harassed sector of PC users, according to the report, accounting for 86 percent of all targeted attack victims. Widespread internet worms are also giving way to smaller, more targeted attacks that have a better chance of obtaining personal information, the report found. Kelly Martin, group product manager for Symantec, told SCMagazine.com today that home users should keep their operating systems fully patched and use up-to-date anti-virus protection. EDMONTON -- The move to four-stroke snowmobile engines is providing more power for electrical accessories as well as making the machines cleaner and quieter. Ed Klim of the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association said the four-stroke engines can drive larger alternators, providing electrical power for items such as communications systems and seat warmers. The communications systems are built into the riders' helmets, allowing riders on one sled to talk back and forth or to talk to occupants of other nearby snowmobiles. The added juice can also be used for heated boots to take the bite out of winter weather. Snowmobiles are equipped with heated handlebars to keep operators' hands warm. While the higher-output electrical system will increase comfort and enjoyment for snowmobile riders, what observers will notice is less noise.
